It pains me that I need to drag myself to this cesspit, but since Jason Schreier is very unlikely to issue the correction that is absolutely required, I’m just going to have to clarify it here.

* No mention of fellow anti-GG critic Arhtur Chu’s very public campaign to get this event stopped, which likely led to this bomb threat.
I love beadle, she is smart and does not play along with any bullshit. I hated when she left Sportsnation to go cover red carpet events and was very pleased for her to get back to sports. I love women like her and Katie Nolan that will jump into Sports media and do things they want following common sense instead of…
Thanks for this. I just called ESPN to let them know that I am boycotting the company until such time as they stop promoting and supporting domestic abuse by airing the Smith coverage but not backing their own reporters who have objectively covered said abuse and are now banned from the fight.
Yeah, it won’t do…
Seems the world is content with women getting beat up as long as the money keep rolling in and the sports media shield the men perpetrating said violence against women.
We’ve updated the story with this. If you haven’t read them, I implore you to read two important articles by Rogers on Mayweather and domestic violence:
Martin Rogers of USA Today was also banned
Obviously Mayweather is afraid of strong, independent women that aren’t afraid to share their opinion. I’m a fan of both Michelle Beadle and Rachel Nichols and it would have been nice to hear the firsthand perspective of the fight from both of these women. I really hope that Manny Pacquiao really beats the shit out of…
Thanks for posting this. He blocked me a few years back, for a Deadspin comment, so I wouldn’t have known. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Olbermann came out in support of Beadle, obviously.
ESPN doesn’t take stands, they embrace (manufacture) debate (racebaiting/misogyny).
Here’s why they did it. Because they can and there will be absolutely NO REPERCUSSION to their bottom line. None. Nata. Zip. Zilch.
This is a tremendous opportunity for ESPN to take a stand and support two of the best female reporters. Their silence is deafening.
What happens next, however, is entirely up to them. ESPN should, but won’t, withdraw their coverage from the fight to support one of their own.
Not even if you spotted him the B and the N.
To be fair, ESPN has allowed Dan Rafael and Stephen A. to promote a BS Mayweather storyline for a long time, but they had absolutely nothing to do with this decision.
He certainly can't spell it.
Just when I thought ESPN couldn’t be any more tone deaf, they go and do something like this...
“While it is Mayweather’s team that is pulling the strings, it’s Showtime that owes the world an explanation. Why have they continued to sanitize their coverage of Mayweather’s history of domestic violence while continuing to unhesitatingly promote other aspects of his outside-the-ring lifestyle? Why did they allow…
“Ban” is a big word ... it’s possible Mayweather doesn’t know what it means.
