But why? A sculpture of literally anything else FFXIV related would make more sense than a fake console with an extra logo... It’s just a blue box lol.

Thanks for pointing out! So we’re both right here. You do earn progress toward learning an ability just by using it, but it can take a while. The Proficiency Bonus requirements speed up the time it takes to learn an ability. We’ve updated the guide to include these details. I’ve tested it out and yes, you can just

Difficult, no. Tedious, yes.

Having some of the weapons being only attained by completing mini-games is the worst.

What the hell is with this commentariat? Does the title of the article say “I picked the best FF to start with?” No, it says the readers did.

Tonberry is in a FF game?

I, for one, was utterly shocked when an article titled “How To Steal The Tonberry King’s Crown In FF7 Rebirth” contained information on How To Steal The Tonberry King’s Crown In FF7 Rebirth.

I mean that’s a dumb litmus test but it’s especially dumb when you’re talking about Final Fantasy and Halo, two series that are not nearly as popular as they used to be.

This was the closest to a villain My Neighbor Totoro had.

I can absolutely see it. There’s entire species of cat-people and bunny-people in Final Fantasy, so a humanoid goat/satyr lady wouldn’t be far off.

oh so one of these

Yeah, sometimes some people miss common stuff like this in the wake of time. Like say, halo or cell damage for xbox would let you rename your xbox, the sound effects at the main menu on xbox feature apollo space mission files? (i cant remember). Another is most people dont do the gameboy color (when playing gameboy1

Oh yes, I knew about this, by accident IIRC back in the early 00s. I guess me holding the controller in my right hand with my index “gripping” the Z Button as I turned on the console. Though I will admit, I didn’t know about the other different startup sounds until much later.

This post hit me some kind of way. These alternate songs were a core part of my childhood. I had a group of friends that, whenever we got together, made sure to do the 4-player variant at least once during the night of playing.

“and threw the game away out of spite”....

Rightttt.

X’s story is explicitly about the summoner’s pilgrimage. It has every reason to be as linear as it is. My first time through I resented it, but later I came to really appreciate how that linearity gave it a focus on place and culture that the other games didn’t really have. And the “open world” of previous FF games

Not every gamer places heavy value on exploration. There are plenty of games like visual novels where you can literally just mash one button for the entire game to get through it, sometimes pressing “up” or “down” to make a couple of choices.

I acknowledge VII’s impact on the series as well as the fact that it was the first game in the series to be experienced by most...but from a story telling perspective it has nothing on the masterpiece that is VI, with VII being a confusing mess in comparison. I’ve played the vast majority of the FF games and VII does

VIII was pretty solid in many ways, but it was not better than VII.
