That is so much better looking than the Supra.

Jason seems to think it’s better than the ND2. (this is the second and last time I’m posting this video in the comments.)

Maybe because it weighs 300 lbs more (2022VW GTI curb weight 3154 lbs), which chews the livin’ Hell out of that “extra powerful” 13 freakin’ horsepower. The torque number is significant, but a lot of people prefer the handling of a lightweight, rear wheel drive sports car to a nose-heavy, FWD box.

RWD and sports coupe form factor, versus FWD hatchback

I agree with you on the power front but the GTI is FWD and a completely different animal. What this thing needs is a high-revving FA20 as the base engine and an FA20F (turbo) as the upgraded engine. That way they can satisfy the purists who want a simple and easy to use NA sports car as well as fairly quick upgraded

This car is incredibly underpowered. Don’t get me a wrong. I am a big fan but why would I get this car over an MK8 GTI, which has 241hp and 273 pound-feet

There’s a lot of “History” to unpack there in much the same way someone who’s never read the Bible but heard from a priest that it hates lesbians and goes on to tell people that God hates Ellen leaves a lot to unpack.

I agree with that, although as many others have pointed out, “cancelling” cars because of associations from their company or government is problematic to say the least. It should be possible to enjoy a car as a work of engineering and design without worrying about the political implications. After all, it’s just a

Really Raph, we’re back to hating inaminate objects as evil because of their owners or designers? Does that mean you sent your Bug to the crusher? After all, why would someone drive around in the car designed for the Nazi everyman and that was used as a fundraising effort for the war. You might argue it doesn’t count

No. I didn’t, because I don’t give a shit. lol. It’s a rock. The difference is that is college and I sort of get that for them. That’s what college is for. Trying out new ideas and feelings and such for the first time.

Did you see where the University of Wisconsin cancelled a 100-year old racist rock last week?

But what IS the historical context of this car. No one knows. There is a rumor that is based on zero documented evidence, and disputed by the son of the man who owned it, that it was a gift from Hitler. That’s it. This isn’t a vehicle that was personally owned by Hitler or some other high level Nazi. It’s just a car. W

Sorry Raph... this is one pedantic filler of an article...

All American products from WWII should also be off-limits. Firebombing of Dresden and Tokyo, experimenting on our own troops with chemical weapons based on their race, internment of Japanese Americans, dropping nuclear weapons on two cities filled with innocent civilians…

If you’re wondering what other companies could be targeted in future articles...

I don’t think the Nazis had any special engineering talent. Rather, the Germans had developed engineering expertise that was available for exploitation by the Nazis.

While that is an interesting topic, it’s probably too complex with too many moving parts to really make sense in a post about an unrelated car winning a prize.
