Remember when you could get colors other than black, white, another white, a slightly different white that’s kind of the same but even more slightly different white, grey, another grey, gray, “silver but actually gray”, and red?

Car is meh but love that shade of green. Reminds me of the one Toyota use to have on the Camry 10-15 years ago.

Meanwhile, Waymo champions their success in Phoenix, where even the interstates are a grid system.

The 08/09 crash is now frequently cited in economics. I took Econ 101 in 2010 and half the semester was spent dissecting what happened in 08/09. I had never read so much about housing in all my life.

Right, but the cascade that led us to this point is still interesting.

It involved initial contraction followed by increased demand, which then caused scarcity that is not caused by plants capacity but weird convergence of when sales reporting is done (Q2 and 4) and when volume projections for semi-conductors are

It’s not the prices, or supply, that are really interesting....it’s the fact that unemployment is up and salaries/pay are down compared with pre-COVID, yet prices keep rising.

We are currently in the largest transportation switchover since we went from horses to motorized carriages. You may not like it, but this massive transition to EVs by nearly every car maker right now is going to be dominant news for a very long time.

I still don’t expect full Level 5 for a very long time, like 5-10 years out.

Shortages lead to higher prices. That’s something which is already taught in economics. In fact, there are a few formulas in economics which center around strategically leveraging scarcity to optimize for profit. Lots of companies are watching margins soar from all of this.

I’ve never leased a car.  It would seem to me that banking on somehow making money on your lease at the end of your lease term is a risky proposition and puts you at the mercy of the people who would rather that they make money at your expense.

I did this when I was in my later teens. I would grab lunch with one girl, hang out in the afternoon for a bit with another, maybe watch a movie in the evening with a third. My own mom thought it was weird, but it wasn’t like any of these dates were particularly romantic. Simply enjoyed their company, had easy-going

When you lease a car its not your car...so why would you be entitled to the equity? I never see anyone complaining when the leasing company loses money at lease turn in, which prior to the pandemic was a regular thing.

That was even in the Southwest, a kind of best-case situation for autonomous car development in terms of both weather and clean, car-friendly infrastructure.

Snow wasn’t the only thing he’d been plowing.

If there’s anything I’ve learned about Jezebel, and The Root for that matter, when you see the comments section calling out a skeptical/wrong/bad take story, they’re usually right.

I appreciated that the Jezebel comments were just a wall of people calling this bullshit and digging into the financials

Absolute bullshit. An adult man, supposedly with a damn good job(making enough money to maintain 3 relationships), had the free time and ability to somehow manage 3 different relationships without them knowing.... but wait, it was actually 6! Fuck off. Like they were each assigned a day or something?

I dated a woman who I dumped after deducing she had multiple boyfriends. Red flags like “I won’t be available for a few days, my cousin’s coming to visit”.

I think the point is made is more along the lines of they’re too young to know real pain yet. As in, they’re too young to have been dating someone for a long enough period of time and that no children, houses or pets were involved in the breakup.

6 different women not knowing they’re dating the same guy sounds almost as implausible as an 18 19 and 21 year old having the cash to buy a bus, completely renovate it into a rolling tiny house with hardwood flooring, and take it on a massive cross country expedition.
