I will keep that in mind when I need to supplement my grad student stipend =P
Wait...I buy these every time I go to the burrito joint at my workplace in CA. I'm trying to collect all the Star Wars toys! Legal in CA? Or a place that DGAF?
In response to shoes inside of house: SERIOUSLY! *shakes head*
That's the only reason I clicked through!
And it took her family two days before they decided to report it and take her to a hospital. TWO DAYS. I can't even imagine the agony she must have been it.
Maybe it's a financial issue? Right now the cost of care is being funded by donations from staff. Probably hard to keep that up.
Well, I take comfort in the fact that any men who are looking for WOC for those reasons are going to be sorely disappointed. Asian women are just as diverse as white women...and just as loud and opinionated. I take pleasure in belching rudely in front of men from whom I get the fetish vibe =P.
I did read it much more straightly, rather than an imitation of the fetishizing man's mindset. That is probably because I have been on the receiving end of this stereotype before from well meaning people ("Wait...you...don't have an accent?" "No, no, tell me where you're REALLY from."). I see what you mean, and I'm…
No worries! Sorry to focus in on just one part of your very good points. I'm in the Silicon Valley so I understand the stereotype, and plenty of those kind of men here (ugh, shudders).
I just want to point out that some of your assumptions and language about Asian women are pretty hurtful here.
I did the same (try to get back in during cataclysm) in order to recapture that initial awe and excitement. Just wasn't the same at all, and I was very disappointed :(. For me what was missing the most were the guild mates...they were the ones who made it awesome and would keep me up late into the night laughing my…
Ahhhhhh I have all the tears on my face! This is great.
Blah I got the same but in the opposite direction. Ran into my dad's coworker with my dad when I was 11. She thought I was his wife.
If we've learned anything from poop transplants...those butt germs can be good for you!
Is it the use of Asian as a noun rather than an adjective that you hate? Or saying Asian to mean describe someone descended from any of the Asian countries?
I guess I should have clarified I'm Asian-American in my previous post. And yes it makes me a bit sad/uncomfortable. I am not outraged, but it's just a reminder that this is how a lot of people in America think about Asian people.
I also want to point out that sometimes it's Asian people in America that are uniquely attuned to these stereotypes. When you've been fetishized, stereotyped, or called racial slurs, potentially well meaning things can take on an uncomfortable undertone.
It makes sense! Magic regenerative powers are just one mutation away from cancer. Like the worries with stem cell treatment.
Like Howard Hughes! I had no idea who he was until The Aviator. Similar situation with Carnegie.
