It's frustrating how shitty it is in America to have babies. Family-work balance is the top reason me and other female PhDs I know decide to leave academia. The term "boss" is kinda weird in academia, hence I said higher up since his title was Assistant Director of biophysics under Randall (who was The Boss), while Rosalind was there under a fellowship as a research scientist. Rosalind was to continue work that was started by Wilkins.

My impression is that Wilkins (her higher up) showed her data without her permission, not the graduate student, Gosling. And then Wilkins got to share in on the Nobel Prize while she was never even considered since she had passed already =(

I'm always suspicious/curious about Nielsen based statistics. How accurate are they? Isn't there some bias in the type of folk that get selected to be a Nielsen household? I feel like it's for sure missing young, transients like me and my peers who are constantly moving from one place to another.
