@LaComtesse: /high five for december 27th birthdays!
@AristotlesCrab: i'm gonna have to say a post xmas birthday is the worst. i've never celebrated it!
@slowtraincoming: I like the points you make but now I've got problems thinking of examples of how a fear of childbirth can disrupt someone's life in such a huge way? It's not as if you'd have to change your day to day habits in order to avoid childbirth. Maybe it'd be more from some intense internal conflict…
@Titania: well i love it! i like to think it's fabulous, shiny rock candy and i can just lick them all up
@dancingteacups: Our holiday party was even more awkward than normal times. Pictures of male faculty in their underwear? Mistletoe on a belt as a gift? uuuggggghhhh
@WaffleCopter: Which is great, but sometimes I do wish that professors got some training in management. Or that there were a procedures in place for dealing with interpersonal issues. I've seen so many unhealthy dynamics fester (and occasionally blow up) because the PI had no idea what to do and just…
i always struggle with when i should offer a seat to an elderly person. i obviously do if they visibly look unwell...but is it rude to do so if they look otherwise healthy?
i love cheap, big jewelry. too much possibly. i wear my 4+ rings every day even in lab. on the odd days where i don't wear them though? i'm always disturbed about how you can see a dark orange/brown develop on my gloves in the exact shape of my rings.
this other, similar dating site describes a bit more of the phenomenon and some caveats which i find really fascinating
@EponaWearsBoots: this other, similar dating site has a section about that. not sure how much i would take from it though since it's just based on a couple studies (although this whole thing is just based on a couple studies...)
@evan7257: linus pauling is my hero. two nobel prizes, in science and peace?! /swoon
@la.donna.pietra: i'm involved in a science teaching volunteer group and you can actually get those plus other sorts of awesome teaching supplies from stores that cater to these kinds of interactive teaching. it's awesome!
@toadie time travel: ah good point, that's probably what they meant. thanks for the clarification!
@ampersands: i believe they mean two birthing events that produced a total of 22 offspring
@sailingev: i believe they mean genetically unique in that WW females aren't something that biologists ever thought existed in the wild. it'd be like if we found a YY human male.
@KrystaIInTheSkyWithDiamonds: yeah, seriously, totally not representative at all. although clark kerr really is quite pretty and i hear the new units built recently are pretty nice. at least there's plenty of affordable (bay area standards) apartments in the area and an awesome co-op system
when our dorms in college were under construction i was told there was a work rule in place prohibiting catcalls to the girls.
these guys have nothing on the sexy vampires of the 90s
@Shancan: i am floored...FLOORED...to learn that there are different types of earwaxes out there. earwax is wet? is that why so many people in the US clean their ears with cotton swabs? oh my god, does this mean i can no longer feel ashamed that i've never cleaned my ears that way?!
@Levi_Jones: those are very good variables that you mention and I would totally have those same worries if told about such a study. but I believe all the people who participated in the study are from Germany which should control somewhat for the environment (although potentially less so for the diet).
