Incredible read. As much as I enjoyed a lot of this game, so much of it feels like a “near miss” - now I know why. I feel really bad for the people who worked on it. Also, I’d never seen that comparison video with the leaked footage - I cannot believe the regression was that dramatic.

I loved the flashback/main story, but I was completely uninterested in the tribal stories. There is such a disconnect between the two worlds that it felt ridiculous to spend any time on finding so-and-so’s daughter, or fighting bandits at a fort, when I could (and should) be learning WHAT KILLED THE WORLD. The reason

I loved the look of this game, and respect the depth and intelligence of it, but I found its pacing and its inability to clearly teach a player how to play the game to be overwhelming flaws. I don’t need my hand held, but The Witness felt like it was TRYING to be obtuse and inaccessible. Before too long, I was just

Patch to make everyone who thinks FFVII is the best game in the series play FFVI.

Get outta here with those remake screenshots. Woof.

“I just had this conversation” is super the same as “I’ve discussed this so many times in real life with real women in real life!” Appreciate the clarification!

Actually, it’s weird, but some “discussions” actually don’t include room for disagreement. Sometimes it’s as simple as “right” and “wrong.” When a bunch of dudes on the internet are yelling that it’s ok to objectify the only female character in the presentation, it’s reallllll easy to look at them and say “nope.”

Yes, in the 6 minutes since I posted that, you made two posts on Kotaku and somehow had two conversations with real women (and took a minute to reminisce on your fun-filled weekend, no doubt). And look at all the details of these conversations you’ve provided! Honestly, you sound like such a rock star, I don’t even

Hey, let’s try something. If you can find a woman in real life that will talk to you (assuming you’re old enough to be out talking to women, anyway - if not, your mom or sister will be fine), show her a picture of this character and make this exact argument to her. Word for word, state your case. Hell, just IMAGINE

You ok?

The only thing Snyder has “down pay” is muted color palettes and under-performing at the box office.

ok, I’ll let WB know.

...what? “Jaded” and “Soviet” are not real high on the list of “essential Superman qualities,” so your reply makes 0 sense.

You can say a lot of things about Grant Morrison’s work, but “mindless” is the most fantastically wrong thing you could possibly say (if you didn’t immediately follow that up with the “what’s wrong” comment, dear lord). I’d suggest reading All-Star Superman again, because you definitely missed everything - especially

All-Star Superman is the best Superman series of the modern era. American Alien is going to go down as possibly the best Clark Kent series ever. Between those two books, you have the blueprint for what the character is and what the character should be. Simple as that.

I’ll never understand the negative reaction to the modern day/future story. Syndicate did, for me, a great job of highlighting just how interesting the modern day cast and conflict is. I’m dying for a whole game set in that timeline. The modern day sections with Desmond in previous games were so much fun; I wasn’t

Man, when are we gonna get mods for the console version? I’ve already finished the game and got all the achievements, but if they actually follow through and bring mods over, I’ll fire it back up.

You realize this is comics, right? And that this is only the 2nd issue of the series? Characters change and return to form constantly, and who even knows what’s going on with Doom here, or what happens to him in Secret Wars. Relax.

Definitely the standout book for ANAD Marvel so far. Marquez somehow keeps getting better. Bendis wrote Stark a little too Peter Parker-y in this issue, but otherwise the book is just great.

For anyone who’s unaware, the machine Alfred tells Clark about, the one that’s supposed to create a 27 year old clone for ever generation (and will clearly be the mechanism for getting Bruce back in the cowl when Superheavy is done), is first shown in action in Snyder’s portion of Detective Comics #27 (with great art
