I would go buy a new Telluride today if I could get one at MSRP. But I can’t, and nor can I get a Sportage, or Bronco or several others.

If you can’t see the irony of making socially and climate conscious changes solely for the sake of a corporate scorecard, you might be a Gizmodo writer.

I bought a 3080ti about a month ago for ~$950 when the prices dropped, and I’m glad I did.  Looking at the new cards,  while they might have theoretically better performance,  I’d need to buy a new monitor to see the benefits, and also buy a new PSU.  So I’m good for another 3 years and then do a full system update. 

It depends on the card, and what it was being used for.  There’s info from some of the good youtubers that will provide some direction on what’s fairly safe, and what to stay away from.

You won’t see the 3080 that cheap. Nvidia’s sentient leather jacket wants to jack up the prices again.

The shame in this is that EVGA has the best customer service in the business, and while their cards weren’t necessarily the top performers, they were at the top for reliability.

Also.. EVGA is a small (280ish employees) privately owned company,  so they can make business decisions on a more personal level.

Got bad news for you.. Nvidia is working to manipulate the market to get prices stabilized,  so they can charge $1500+ for the 40x0 series cards. (Check the Jay2Cents video about that.)

Working in media, this is extremely common. CNN and similar keep obits ready of the top 2oo or so world leaders, actors, personalities. But for a head of state, you would always have this plan in the modern era.
