Ballinger deserves no pity but I’m also really annoyed by the kinds of people who scour someone’s history for any scandal that might provide them with the tiniest bit of internet clout.

What the hell are you talking about? Did you watch the whole movie? She was all bluster, that was the point. Indy sees himself in her, but the arrogant “fortune and glory” version of him from Temple. In the end, she reveals she actually does need him — you know, like when she’s in tears begging him to come back? Her

It’s nice to have this 5th and final IJ film where I don’t know ahead what will happen or how it will end.  And I’m thrilled with the closing scene!

While Tucci didn’t elaborate on this particular form of bad-faith acting...

I’ve heard Foundation is in the same status as Dune for very early sci-fi that inspired the future of the genre. As a Dune fan, would anyone recommend this to me as some good watching. Might try to get to reading it but I already have a lineup of books im digging through, including re-reading Dune which I am already

No its not “failing up” when a movie is not successful and you follow it with Blue Velvet where you are nominated for Best Director. And then he follow it with another succesful movie. And then a classic TV show that was HUGELY successful.

The part where Paul joins the Fremen and works his way up. There is a lot of stuff with Chani. The movie basically just bumps him to the head of the Fremen and Chani falls in love with him instantly. Then the movie jumps straight to the ending. Essentially the middle portion of the book is highly glossed over. My GF

The entire prophecy is invented however. It’s ABOUT the white savior troupe more than being one.

Also, what happens with Alia is one of the more out there parts of the book, so yeah, no reason to show here now, better to do that in the movie itself when by that point everyone is already along for the ride.

Look you want to live, you got to take care of your cat.

Alia kills the Baron so she’s got to be somewhere. If he gets to do Part 3: Dune Messiah then she’s definitely there.

The Sci-Fi miniseries was well-intentioned but a lot of the time it felt like a school play put on by the Rushmore kids.

Paul tells Jessica that he knows she’s pregnant in Part One, so it’s safe to assume Alia will show up in Part Two, seeing as how she’s a major character in Messiah and Children.

I think the Villeneuve movie is definitely a better adaptation of the book. He’d been a Dune fan since he was thirteen and there are probably shots in these movies that had been in his head for decades. I enjoyed Part One and I’m looking forward to Part Two.

I’m just here for the continuing arguments between the “Lynch Dune is a visionary work of art that can never be approached camp and the “Lynch Dune is a crime against humanity” camp.

Echoing everyone who are (rightfully) slamming your oversight of The Blues Brothers, and frankly, Red Dawn needs to be at least in the runner-up list for Colorado.

I’d take Robocop over 8 Mile for Michigan.

No Dances with Wolves for South Dakota?  You may not like the film, but the cinematography was lovely.

I was coming here to say that - how do you not even MENTION The Blues Brothers???

Don’t get me wrong, I like The Big Chill.  But I’d have picked Bastard Out of Carolina, The Notebook, The Great Santini, The Prince of Tides, and Glory all ahead of it for movies from SC.  Maybe even The Secret Life of Bees too.
