David Crosby, the Father of Our Country
Whoever has to watch Bill Maher for this site doesn’t get paid enough.
This is just another dispatch from outrage culture. Looks like an enormous nothingburger.
I Saw the TV Glow sounds like it might be a Videodrome for a new generation. Sounds cool.
I think Ed Harris was miscast as well, but I could see where Hopper would not be right for that role. Pryce would have been good.
I would uninvent the term “stan” if I could
The Deer Hunter is a slog with a couple of extremely memorable scenes. IMO, it’s aged pretty poorly.
Not a lot to get excited about here, ngl
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about The Doors as I’ve gotten older. They do have some good stuff, even a couple of bangers, but as I’ve gotten older it also seems pretty dated and pretentious.
I like them both. The Guess Who is one of the great underrated bands, like Three Dog Night. Both of those groups had a lot of hits.
So is Alabama Song.
The magic and mystery of Ottessa Moshfegh eludes me. Just seems like an incredibly mid writer.
Let’s hope not
This one really surprised me. Bugsy isn’t that great; it’s mostly just Warren Beatty playing himself, which he did in every film since Reds.
Albert Brooks is the Husker Du of comedy--a unicorn to hipsters of a certain age, but mostly forgotten these days.
Both Captain Marvel movies have felt pretty inessential.
Can’t believe we didn’t get a nod to some MacArthur Park cover. The original is spectacularly ridiculous, but it’s stunning how many others took a crack at it.
Is this medley better than either original? Not at all, but it’s not terrible either.
The Sound of Silence is a pretty pretentious song to begin with. Larding on the melodrama with a trowel doesn’t help it.
