The Postman was a great concept that was just too long. Costner went through a period where he made projects that were Dances With Wolves epics, even if they shouldn’t have been. The Postman, Waterworld, Wyatt Earp, etc.

You don’t have to even have given institutional sexism and misogyny, just math. There are just fewer awards if you do that, so fewer performances are awarded.

Event Horizon isn’t great. It’s basically just Hellraiser on a spaceship.

I’m a Methodist. Without the Catholic Church, there wouldn’t be any Baptists or evangelicals around to make the point. Whatever the faults of the Catholic Church over the centuries—and they are manifold—they did keep Christianity going in Western Europe for 15 centuries.

People have a right to like what they like, but the book series to me was a massive disappointment.  The first book was so great, and then then next 3 were also strong.  Then the whole thing just flew off the rails as King wrote himself into the novels (?!) and cheaped out on a lame, cliched ending.

That wasn’t necessary to advance the plot—the High Evolutionary’s ship could have simply taken off without that destruction and CounterEarth saved by his eventual defeat.

seemingly that it was more likely for her have been Black than Greek or Arab.”

Same here.  Good book about something next door (to Arkansas, where I’ve lived most of my life), and I’ve been to Pawhuska not all that long ago.  The 3 1/2 run time does have me a little nervous.

I’d bump off Basket Case, which is definitely not a good movie in any sense, and include Altered States or Dreamscape.

It’s not really a good movie, but it’s a wild watch

Well, glad he’s out of the closet
