wtf? they have waffle houses north of the mason-dixon line?

@luisthebeast: I believe that the version of "unobtanium" introduced in The Core, possibly one of the worst movies ever produced (after The Omega Code, of course) could not only withstand the heat of the earth's core, but turned that heat into electricity. Also, if you duct taped wires to it, somehow it would

@Bret: I'm not sure how much rollbar padding, or even a rollbar, is going to protect you when an airborn Impala lands on your convertible.

@Maxichamp: there's just something wrong about putting the 300sl and an r107 in the same picture...

well, it's not a CAR part, per se, but I'm fairly impressed with desmodromic valvetrains.

@luisthebeast: Sounds good. I'd definitely like to meet someone who owns a Gulfstream G650 and a Pontiac G6.

Wow, that Lancia looks incredible.

@Ash78-46 was my number: great, another way carfax screws up. my favorite so far is the data entry error where an obvious mistake in recording mileage by some tech results in an odometer rollback error being reported. i didn't even realize they were warning you against certain models now, isn't that type of

...whatever, dude's totally right.

@YankBoffin: After 20 years of R&D and two (i think that's all they built) production prototypes, the US government decided there was no point to a stealth attack helicopter because the helicopters already in the field were being shot down by a bunch of guys with big beards firing rpgs from the beds of Toyota pickup

The Apache is pretty sweet, but if the Commanche had made it to full scale production, I think that would probably have been the coolest helicopter ever.

@nataku8_e30: followed up by the most badass plane ever created

@FightingChance: Well, the info I'm finding says the Accord V6 coupe manual made 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and ran a 14.3 second quarter mile. There are a LOT of interesting cars that are slower than that (including the Z3 with the exception of the M models and possibly the 3.0, the BMW 8 series, the E36 M3 automatic,

@FightingChance: The regular Grand Marquis made 239 hp, 282 lb-ft of torque, the Marauder's dohc motor made 302 hp, 318 ft-lbs. that's not a trivial boost over the base, although it was still a bit slow. so, while it may not be a perfect muscle car, it was certainly interesting.

@Bueller: um, pretty sure that it was a quad cam, 32 valve engine. also, aluminum driveshaft isn't exactly low tech and it also had an LSD. seemed like a pretty sweet car, even if it isn't up to gtr standards.

Anyone know if the Marauder the last interesting car Mercury ever made?

so are fuel caps
