Given I was shopping for both V12 S600 and W12 Phaetons (and 760Li to be fair) I am very happy with my W220 S600 thus far. Doesn’t feel cheap at all despite not looking like the biggest car from some angles.

Buick Electra 225. It’s one of those cars that never leaves my top 5 list of favorites. Land yacht, indeed.

Yeah! Those! I love those wheels! Those are what would have come on the cat originally, most people don’t like them for some reason.

I’ll have more of my own pics when it gets here from Dallas, but I can’t identify the wheels. It’s not an AMG pack car, but the wheels aren’t factory unfortunately. I like the base model rims anyway.

Mine was knocked down in price by a fairly large unrepaired dent in the front fender made by the front door of a jealous plebians Honda Accord and a fairly urgent need for a brake overhaul. Turbos, coilpacks, and the suspension are apparently all in functional condion as of time of sale.

You know, I just bought a 2004 Mercedes S600 with a couple thousand less miles for $10,000 and I think I like it better than this.

That 9-7x is a 6 cylinder. It was offered as a V8 as well...this oversight must be rectified...

9th generation. Looks big on the outside but that’s the huge overhangs. The wheelbase is basically that of a Taurus/Sable of the time. So in comparison with a Town Car, rear seat legroom is practically non-existent.

You’re absolutely right! BUT, since it isn’t my only job, I CAN afford a W220 S600 BiTurbo. So...you know...go out and find a better attitude and try to engage in some proper discussion.

(Assuming I could afford a new car?)

I’d love an automatic from 1998, especially a German one. All the X308 series XJ sedans equipped with a supercharged engine are equipped with a 5G-Tronic 5 speed, which is a Mercedes-Benz transmission.

You’ve just described every car equipped with air suspension. And, as with every other car, the internet has a way of greatly inflating the failure rate.

Ah, of course. You must forgive my ignorance sir. I had forgotten that the S55 AMG and the lowly S430 were the same car with the exact same engine.

Those are never that cheap in America! Then again, our government has yet to go as environmentally friendly as the UK, and thank god for that. That car may be cheap, but in the UK they’ll charge you with all kinds of congestion and smog taxes. Plus, the Europeans have a much higher supply of stuff like that. I hear

The solution is as it has been before. Buying a used luxury flagship guarantees you a big engine and, most likely, speed. Among the top depreciating luxury marques is Jaguar, a regal firm from the British Isles with a penchant for leather, beautiful wood, and superchargers. They’ve made some mistakes in the past, but

So often on this site the Mazda Miata is heralded as being the ultimate automotive answer to any question. It’s cheap and sporty and fun...

I can’t stand all of this “nice” marketing crap by the Japanese manufacturers. The “got in my Camry...yadda yadda yadda...look at what a well balanced young woman my daughter has become” guy, the superbowl Nissan commercial with the absentee racing driver father and that stupid cats in the cradle, silver spoon song.

Wrong. You can get four 1994 S-Classes with 134,000 miles for $18,000. And that is a bargain, considering 134k is quite reasonable on a 21 year old W140 tank.

I defy you to tell me that the SL 65 AMG isn’t an exotic car. It’s foreign, goes very very fast, has many many of the horsepowers, even more of the torques, and is an exclusive low(er than most cars) production vehicle. It’s a 6.0L twin turbocharged V12 that’s making 604 horsepower and 736 lb-ft of torque from the

The voice of reason! Good on you, sir! The S-Class is always the safest car on the road. If I had kids (and god forbid that day should ever come) I would trust the safety of a 20 year old W140 more then a late model Corolla or Civic. My kids (the poor neglected bastards they will likely be) can be certain they’ll be
