Not to mention that shops depend on their rep to some degree, and if the artist thought your tattoo was going to look bad and/or even become something you hate then they are risking their business every time they do a tattoo and they deserve to mitigate that risk however they see fit.
Could be worse. This could be on the cover:

Your original comment was a bullying comment. But nice try pulling that card!
...extremely loud, easy-to-regret tattoos.
Nope, totally with Dan on this one. Took me a long time to find someone to tattoo my hands. If you want a neck tattoo so bad, Jane, instead of smearing artists who say no, just go to a parlor where gang members go. They’ll hook you up, no problem.
Female artist here. Don’t tattoo faces, necks, hands or genitals as standard. My choice. If anyone wants to bitch they can go elsewhere because guess what, artists are not machines and are allowed to have some agency over who and what they tattoo. Just as I don’t need to tattoo a swastika and white power slogans on…
Maybe you missed this one
“This was the third time I’d been told that: once at a parlor where I just immediately walked out—granted, I’d had a few wines, so I don’t feel like putting them entirely on blast for that one”
At least she acknowledged it, but I can still side eye.
He didn’t take any of her money, he doesn’t owe her anything.
Yeah, as a heavily tattooed woman I agree. I’ve had most artists make recommendations about placement and style to me. In fact, I’ve had sort of the anti-Dan experience (with a guy who also refuses to do hand and neck tattoos on people who aren’t already covered in tats, btw—it’s seriously a common policy) where my…
I think the pictures of the tattoos that she posted are all in locations that could be hidden more easily than a neck tattoo and I don’t think he did the face tattoo, just the one based off the face tattoo. I get being upset about being refused the tattoo she wanted but it’s within the rights of the artist to refuse…
The ice cream tattoo he did isn’t on a face. Dan respected the clients wishes as long as it didn’t go against his own policy which was clearly no neck tattoos since TWO other people at the same shop said he wouldn’t do it.
This article is the literal equivalent of “I’ll show HIM!” and “If you piss me off, I’m leaving a bad Yelp review.”
I respect that artist who refused. For whatever reason.
The fact that you admit to having alcohol beforehand makes me side-eye a little bit...that and the other tattoo photos, not sure what the point was there. Some of them are really good. But if you want that tattoo so badly I’m glad you just kept going until you found someone who would help you. Artists have every right…
the ice cream cone face tattoo is not his work, the copy on the left is. this is a common refusal by many artists. pick up the phone maybe?
White girl outrage is always petty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
