If you’re covering an industry, like say, politics or banking, it’s smart to follow their dress code norms. And trust me, in plenty of industries bare shoulders will get you a shitload of disdain.

Maybe not exactly the same, but pretty damn close. If you’re trying to interview people it helps to look credible and professional.

Speaking as a former reporter, just because the people you are covering are dressed as slobs doesn’t mean you should.

Or you could use the support system for whichever position you are in the majority of the night.

So much this. Even when I can get him to declutter, Mr. M wants everything out on a counter or table top. He honestly thinks it’s just SO much effort to put stuff away in drawers or cabinets. So we can clear out a room and by the next day, every surface is covered again, and the shelves/drawers/etc. are mostly empty.

I was thinking it is probably a combination of the ahem, severity of the act and the number of incidents over X amount of time. Also, possibly payment for any physical injury that resulted.
