@mynameisjoe: just so its clear, even though the 2nd chart shows different "versions" of android, all baseline software have the same APIs, so anything with android 1.5, will work across the board on whatever 1.5 "version" of android you have.

I agree, we don't need all the damn UI customization. What OEMs should do is make it an option in settings to enable/disable.

i have the g2 and its awesome. the fastest android phone i've used, much faster then the evo and a faster boot time then the vibrant. love this thing! @Lucian Armasu: no they're not, they have to release the code within 120 days, and most likely they will. Open source doesn't mean you can just hack the software, all it means if the source must be available for everyone.
