I don't know who "we" is or what they/you(?) actually heard of but if you have kids, and they watch TV, there are a number of shows (Sophia is a good example) that portray females as smart, strong and independent.

Guess I was too busy watching my daughter watch Brave, Doc McStuffins, Sophia the 1st, Dora, Team UmiZumi, Little Einsteins and Tangled to notice.
