When I was a 33 year old father of a 3 year old, our family car was an 83 280ZX 2+2. That’s the perfect family car! The hatch is big enough to fit everything in and the kid LOVED going in and out of the T-Tops

I know right? One of the many project ideas I;ve had (but will likely never do) is to grab a Golf Alltrak and turn it into a Golf R Variant.

Wait, so for the main photo you show the perfect car, yet no one recommends it?

It’s the Prius for sure.

400 miles for $25k new.

I tend to like quirky cars so I like the way this looks. The price isnt as expensive as a Tesla and to me I would rather have this over a Leaf, Bolt or Mini. The only thing that ruins it for me is the range. Mazda CLAIMS that it is because most people dont drive that far, however I think thats more of a excuse. If it

Every time I think humanity has hit rock bottom, someone pulls out a shovel.

I will just never understand why carmakers think that people who want a manual transmission want a stripped down car.    I want every bell and whistle INCLUDING a manual transmission, which I am happy to pay more for.

Pfft - they’ve had flying bikes since 1980

I still think the GMC motorhome is the coolest looking to this day. I was surprised to see they were only made for 5 years as I saw them all over the West Coast when we went camping in the seventies.

I thought Cayman - but he wants to be able to wrench on it himself as well.  I’ve heard Boxsters and Cayman’s are notoriously hard in that respect.

I don’t like these suggestions. The Corvette probably comes the closest - but this guy is into Triumphs and 914s - small, lithe, tossable little sports cars. The Corvette - for all its performance is not those things.

Could I interest you in a GR 86?

All of these are wrong. Wait for the GR 86.

The only points against the Golf R for me are exactly what you outlined. I want something that has a bit of an edge to it (not quite Focus RS edge...) with a manual gearbox. My wife would get behind a Golf R since she likes the looks and refinement, but I want a bit more engagement. The CX-30 or 3 AWD would be great

If it’s so easy and that’s all it needs, get the battery replaced and sell it for 10k.

If you are going to sell a car you know has a broken part and even go as far as to know the cost of the broken part, just fix it.  Yes, you may not get your money back out of it but it will sell.  Not fixing it is like selling a car with a lien on it, yes it can be done but nobody wants to deal with that junk.  No

The ass of this thing is just fantastic, gorgeous.

It’s exactly as promised. I'm buying.

Manual is great. Hatch or die though.
