Being “sexually assertive” with someone who isn’t consenting to it is rape, champ.

If you’re being sincere, all this displays is your lack of imagination.

The thing about Aziz and Louis CK is that both have countless bits about creepy dudes and how they abuse women. They made it seem like they were smarter than those creeps and were on the side of women. It’s that layer of deceit that I think is way more infuriating and disgusting.

:a group of men breathlessly exit a conference room, ties disheveled, sweat on their brow, waving a piece of paper:

So that incredibly detailed story along with his confirmed phone number and apology isn’t enough? She needs to be outed and have people know who she is simply because she had the audacity to tell someone that Aziz Ansari engaged in sexual misconduct with her? Gross.

Apart from all the good it hopefully does in the wider culture, MeToo is already doing sterling work whittling down my guilt-inducing backlog of ‘must-watch’ TV shows.

you call that an apology? He says he “misread the situation.” What about her constantly saying no did he “misread?” With that alone, do you honestly think that was a first time for him? Hell no.

Yeah, I hate to say it but that was one of my big take-aways. His go-to “sexy” move appears to be sticking his fingers into a woman’s mouth. What an odd, creepy thing to do.

Idk, I usually don’t like to question how sincere people’s apologies are but if it all happened as her account said and it was just that easy for him to apologize like that I’m thinking it shows a lack of remorse and is definitely hypocritical.

I’m glad there’s finally a dude willing to be the arbiter of when women can feel like a guy acted inappropriately.

That actually really confuses me about these situations - like Charlie Sheen being like his character on Two and a Half Men made sense because as offensive as it could be, it was a type of wish fulfillment. With sexual misconduct storylines in Louie and Master of None it seems like maybe they’re writing about people

You’re confused.

about as much response as that comment deserved. Nice.

Puts his whole “nice guy” schtick from Master of None into a new, yucky light.

You know how “cringe comedy” is a thing? Reading this was, like, cringe horror. Ansari’s (alleged) behavior was entirely detestable and villainous, but on a certain level I feel sorry for him.

I dismiss Family Guy without cavil, and i am not insane. I do not like it. It trades humour for crassness and meanness. It is not a comedy; it is a meanedy.

Family Guy has never been great but it was good before it got canceled. it came back wrong.

‘Mary Sue’ is a term that needs to die, because it’s only used to describe female characters. By the definitions given here, most male film protagonists are ‘Mary Sues’ - certainly Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. But for some reason nobody complains when a male character is highly competent and badass.

It’s like people forgot that Luke literally makes an impossible shot to destroy the Death Star after like a 5 minute lesson with Obi-Wan.

“Rey is both of these things objectively. You’re incorrect.”
