Oh god, this. My boss had a 2014 M56 and it was ATROCIOUS. Nothing felt bolted down, the wind noise was hilarious, the transmission was terrible, the seats were mediocre. It was like a luxury car built to have an impressive spec sheet and that’s it.
1st gen R8 V10 with the gated shifter. IMO these get less attractive with every update and the original still looks like an exotic spaceship. Well within your budget, too.

Counterpoint: ‘96-’00 was the best generation of Civic because they were the last to be truly light flickable cars. In ‘01 they got slightly fatter, slightly safer, and lost the great suspension and low nose for macpherson struts and pedestrian safety.
