Except they used the base model variant of the NB (except who knows because they say it’s a 99 and it clearly isn’t), the lamest 1.6 NA, one of the better NCs (3rd facelift PRHT i believe) and an ND.

NCs aren’t valid Miatas.
Run a dirty ice truck in there for a few weeks and see how covered in soot and grime everything becomes. Or go to smog-filled China and lick a glass window. That being said, emissions are definitely important to a point but I think we’re hitting a point of diminishing returns wherein the pollution created making…
Exhaust fumes kill you by suffocation (N2, CO2, CO displacing breathable O2 in the air), not by polluting you to death with what is typically considered “pollutants”. Not that I disagree with your sentiment here, but c’mon. India is the best argument for emissions regulation that exists.
Holy shit you win dumbest comment of the day. Jesus Christ. Take the cleanest ICE vehicles in existence and put them in a closed building, running, while breathing the exhaust and yeah, you’ll die. But not from pollution, but from O2 in the air being displaced by unbreathable N2, CO2, and small amounts of CO. Sure,…
That front end is an absolute disaster. Who put the a chinese copy of a modern supercar lower valence on this restomod? It’s awful. The wheels are pretty tragic, too. Other than that this thing is sweet.
Hood lump notwithstanding that is a far better proportioned vehicle.
I certainly do not.
I don’t think this is anything but the crackiest of crack pipe but where on earth are these mystical $8k Solstice Coupes? As far as I have been aware the things are as rare as hens teeth. $8k barely would get you a base model ‘vert these days.
Dear god that thing is hideous.
That roof rack isn’t even remotely the same other than being “a roof rack”
I currently daily a 1977 Jaguar XJ-S rustbucket with a cammed small-block Chevy in it. It gets 10mpg. I make bad choices.
After I wrecked it I actively tried to make it as ugly as possible. It had orange wheels, stickerbombed door, fender mirrors stuck on with double-stick tape, and the blue interior.
Cheap junkyard find! I figured a turbo responsible for 1.5l (half a 3.0 v6) should work great on a 1.6l, and they deliver roughly the boost I wanted in a quick-spooling OEM package. I find myself badly wanting to build another one of these as Miata-Kart with a nicer exhaust manifold
Yup. I’m looking into transmission controller derivatives of this for another one of my projects.
I put 4k on it then ended up buying an ‘02 Special Edition and selling all my other cars to fund it. Not as fast but it hasn’t been wrecked four times, so that’s neat.
Bought an ‘02 and sold all my other cars to pay for it. No clue what happened to it since then. Damn thing was a riot. Put quite a few miles on the turbo setup, though I couldn’t tell you the exact number.
Yeah, these days you’re told to drop $1k on a Megasquirt before you can even think of buying an eBay turbo...
I turbo’d a Miata. I’m sure that doesn’t sound like much, but stay with me. My ‘91 1.6 literwas in a sad state. I had slid it into a curb at totally sane and proper speeds I swear and bumped into a pole. After replacing the door and some suspension the car was sound again, but a persistant misfire and the now-uglified…
Nothing horribly wrong with those modifications.
