It isn’t though, it’s a single-stage flake.

Yeah but the point here is exactly that. The engineers spent 15 years so they could masturbate over how they achieved blue via a new technique with some fancy micro-scale materials engineering that should result in EVEN MOAR BLUE than through traditional methods. The pedantry here is the entire point.

Materials tuned to cause destructive interference in all wavelengths of light other than blue and constructive interference in blue wavelengths. Think a combination of polarizing sunglasses and a prism.

They did a shit job of describing it, but effectively a “normal” blue material absorbs wavelengths other than blue and reflects blue. This works by refracting all light in such a manner that the wavelength reflected back at you is such that it not only cancels out non-blue wavelengths, but has constructive

My addiction to Thin Mints could only be explained by the inclusion of cocaine in the cookie mix. They are otherworldly.

GIF of the year right here. Damn that was an amazing moment.

I was really pissed at this comment at first.

A floodwall, right?

Ugh. This reminds me of the 2012-2013 debate season topic. “Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its transportation infrastructure investment in the United States.”

I would argue that rail consists are infrastructure that needs to be maintained, albiet at a higher degree than, say, a mostly-inert chunk of asphalt crumbling on the ground.

Bad start of the year for Amtrak. Where’s that infrastructure spending at, again?

holy shit it’s like Goodwin’s Rolls Royce except built by someone without brain damage :o

American V8 in an XJ-S? What sort of madman would drive something like that?

As an owner of an engine swapped XJS with broken HVAC: Yup.

I had a Fox body for a while and I can attest that the beer can was probably stronger than the Ford.

That interior is the absolute business. Pity the exterior falls on its damn face.

That’s impressive. Ford has had widespread paint delamination issues in the past with their aluminum hoods. My ‘05 Mustang had paint coming off in chunks and a friend’s ‘16 Mustang has the same issue, indicating it may not have been completely solved. I’m curious to see how the new F-150s hold up 5 years down the road.
