RoboCop rights, ay?

I think MGM only own The Hobbit rights - nothing outside of that for the Tolkien works. It's one of the reasons why Jackson made Lord of the Rings first (his original plan was, I believe, to start with The Hobbit) and why it took a while for The Hobbit to make it to the big screen after the success of The Lord of the

Just a quick correction: I believe Clash of the Titans is owned by WB (through their ownership of the pre-1986 library), and I believe Jump Street and Dragon Tattoo are both owned by Sony/not owned by MGM (they were co-financed by MGM through the agreement that brought Sony Bond, but they don’t own the IP).

Warner Bros. owns Droopy through all of the Turner dealings mentioned above.

It’s a travesty that a live action Droopy film isn’t being produced right now to face off with live action Clifford the Big Red Dog à la Deep Impact/Armageddon

Well Marvel wasn’t nearly as valuable at that time since they’d given their most popular franchises (Spider-Man and X-Men) to other studios and the comics have been a suffering/dying industry for years now, so I’m not surprised to hear 4 billion bought them. Lucasfilm though, I did not know that, that’s pretty wild.

To add just because it’s very funny these days - “WSJ reports that when Sony Pictures chief Yair Landau offered to purchase Spider-Man’s rights, Marvel’s Ike Perlmutter countered with an offer to sell the movie rights to all of their characters (at least their biggest ones) for only $25 million ($38 million in 2018

You forgot Valley Girl franchise.

$5.5 billion sounds like a lot, until you remember that Quibi raised $1.75 billion.

The excerpted qoute doesn’t support the claim that Jenkins is upset and angry that her movie isn’t in a theater during a pandemic. She specifically isn’t a good excuse to write an editorial which I otherwise agree with.

It’s perfectly acceptable for directors and other creators to talk about massive changes to their industry, and voice displeasure about directions things may be headed. The only specific person who I find gross in all this is Christopher Nolan, who used his clout to keep theaters open during a pandemic, and

All this.

You are conflating two distinctly different issues, Alex. And you seem to realize this very clearly, but it doesn’t seem to stop you from writing an article of ill consideration.

at least you ghouls are consistent, I thought for sure Patty Jenkins would get special treatment compared to Christopher Nolan and yet, here you are, a computer ghoul hiding behind your laptop and avatar, casting judgement on Jenkins and the like for having the audacity to wish their real work, nee, their art, and the

Season One ended with Mando being tasked with locating Jedi to bring Grogu too as he was a foundling needing to be reunited with his kind. The entire point of Season 2 was the journey to do just that. There were basically two realistic options, Ahsoka and Luke. Ahsoka saw what happened to her mentor and decided not to

Hard to say this felt like a series wrap when there’s a giant dangling darksaber to be dealt with.

I would watch a whole show of just her but add Boba Fett and the two of them are exponentially badass.

As if these showrunners needed even more proof to build their case for running the whole franchise, they not only brought her back but were smart enough to give her a close-quarters combat scene in the finale despite being a sniper.

Ming-Na Wen and Boba Fett in a series together?  I didn’t know that I needed it but now I do and nothing else.

I think the Boba Fett show will end in February and Mando season three will air right after that so about 14 months.
