Adding my own data point, knew a couple friends that microdosed to treat their depression specifically, small enough doses to not go on a trip and take daily. While no one should self medicate, because you have no idea how it’ll actually affect you, it did help my friends.

It seems like you’ll still get gunsmith xp from breaking them down, which is the only real use for gunsmith mats, so it’s really just removing the middleman. Plus we don’t know how crafting will work, so they may have a use there.
