Oh, man, do I miss Fresh Choice! It was a weekly lunch place for me. Now the only comparable one is in Whole Foods -- which I avoid like the plague except for when I have a salad bar craving.

20+ years here, had to cut the relationship with my toxic mother-figure. And yes, I am concerned about when she gets sick / dies. What’s my role supposed to be? Am I obligated? Then there’s the judgement. While the rift is quite well known inside the family, and several on her side are fine people and sympathetic to

It is clickbait. There’s an article over on Daily Beast published last week about the changes the new GMG CEO is trying to implement. From the article: [the new CEO] “has suggested on multiple occasions that the sites need to double, triple, and even quadruple page views.” Increased advertising on the sites seems to

Exactly - it’s the ‘cooked correctly’ note - hot grill, lightly oiled patty with salt and pepper, three minutes on each side. It comes out medium.

Why not all options on the table? You can have veggie (and I love a good black bean burger) but when Mr. MMJBW and I are on a road trip and we need something quick, it’s nice to know I can get a Beyond / Impossible burger and he can have his meat burger at the same fast-food place.

This. I have (distant) in-laws that are firmly Trumpers and the few women who were quite vocal in their support when he was elected, are now silent. I would like to think they’ve finally come to their senses but are too embarrassed to admit it. I gave up trying to present actual facts and reason in our conversations

In my small circle of the world, those that self-identify as Christian are the most hypocritical when it comes to acceptance of others that do not share their very narrow vision of beliefs. These are the ones that have tarnished the word Christian and what it stands for.

And yet Asiago didn’t even make the list.

I thought everyone was tweeting him best wishes for #JohnMcCainDay.

Another reason people don’t always finish is that there is simply too damn much food on the plate. And if I’m traveling and don’t have anywhere to store the leftovers, a ‘thanks but no box necessary’ response doesn’t always mean there was something wrong. I will tell them it was simply too much food and I have

I’ve had nightlights all my life. It has nothing to do with being afraid of the dark. It has more to do with safety (I know, boring!). I don’t want to run into the doorframe when stumbling half-asleep into the bathroom at night. Or into the kitchen table when I need a late-night snack. We have a combo of outlet covers

I get ya, it was your truth in high school, no judgement from me. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Except that Jerry Garcia was born on August 1, 1942. If the 1969 birth year were accurate, then he would have not even been born when the Grateful Dead first started playing together in 1965.

I love making my own bread! I’m currently working my way through Flour Water Salt Yeast (Ken Forkish) and it describes the process very much as you have, using visual clues instead of static timing. I’m still on the theory section and no longer feel defeated when it doesn’t turn our perfectly, as now I know what to

Anyone else here from Nor Cal? TOGOs? The best!

Their bun of dripping, iceberg lettuce-flecked mayo is as close to the physical manifestation of contempt as I can picture.

You need a salt pig:

I like soyrizo but certain family members can’t handle soy. I haven’t tried the Seitan chorizo recipe yet because chorizo really needs fat and Seitan has none, so I’m skeptical.

Also, vegetarians (me) use meat substitutes when preparing meals for the rest of the family that are omnivores. I make a pretty good Seitan Italian sausage that I use for pizza and pasta. Mr. Burner likes it and I don’t have to prep two meals.
