We have the same strange textile-in-a-bag rule here.

I love Skyr! Or at least the commercially-available Siggi’s. Plain non-fat for me, a few blueberries and a drizzle of honey, and that’s my main breakfast.

I tried out a new stylist last year who finished my cut with the beachy-wave style. Needless to say, she didn’t get the job.

IS anyone else done with the ‘beachy wave’ thing?  I sure am. It always looked to me to be over-forced casualness. Or unkempt. Take your pick.

I’ve whirred up some veggie/vegan patties in the food processor to make crumbles, and they’re OK. Mostly the drawback is lack of fat, so finding a way to keep them moist while reheating is tricky. My go-to is sauteed chopped mushrooms blended in with the crumbles.

I tried Beyond version 1 and it was OK. I haven’t tried the latest Beyond 2.0, which I hear is much improved. Mr. Burner2 ordered a Beyond burger at Carl’s Jr. not knowing it was vegan (he thought it was marketing hype) and he really liked it.

This is not really ‘in a dish’ but a preparation. I toss whole, peeled cloves into a small saucepan with enough olive oil to cover, and cook low-and-slow until the cloves turn golden brown. Drain oil and reserve for dressings or marinades. Refrigerate cloves and use them in place of fresh when you want garlic flavor

I prefer whole tomatoes and the ones in my pantry — Cento San Marzano Organic — don’t have calcium chloride. They’re a bit pricey but I grab a can or two whenever they’re on sale.

...“paper and pencil”. Very old school. It’s an age thing.

Me. Because the list is posted on the fridge and everyone in the house can add to it.

I’m an avid Kindle reader. But there are times when I want the sensory satisfaction of holding a book -- that fleeting connection to the author. For me, summertime is best for books as I don’t like the glare on the kindle screen when I’m outside enjoying the weather while I read.

Hot takes? No, lukewarm maybe.

Good. More wine — probably at better prices -- for me!

Disagree about the crunchy bits. They’re one of the best parts of baked mac-and-cheese, the textural contrast of buttery crumbs (maybe with some crispy bacon) is worth the extra step of baking. We’re not talking about health food here.

I grew up on the Blue Box stuff. But I much prefer the recipe from Saveur:

Agree — and I also have the pasta maker, ice cream maker and spiralizer attachments and love them all. I’ve been into making my own bread lately and it’s a real time-saver when it comes to kneading dough. Also homemade pasta is the best. I don’t use it everyday, but maybe 1-2 times a week and love my plain white

Amen to this. As the parent of a peanut-allergic child, it constantly annoys me that people conflate a true allergic reaction with a simple intolerance. Allergic = potentially life-threatening. Intolerance = uncomfortable (perhaps extremely so), but you’ll survive. The problem with this line of thinking is that it

She’s extremely popular here in her home state of California, and the Governor just signed legislation to move up the state’s primaries to early March in 2020 (three months earlier than in 2016). So we’ll be voting at the same time as Super Tuesday states. Looks to me like she’s trying to play kingmaker. Frankly, I

As someone who doesn’t like mixers, I just ask for water on the side. Sip martini, sip water. Repeat.

Second this. I edit other people’s writing in my job. The native (American) English speakers need more help than the (European) English speakers that learned English as a second language.
