The $9.5 represents what she would have made had she stayed as a series regular for several seasons.

...but he didn’t want the job.

Sometimes polite simply doesn’t work. They’re not paying attention to anything but the label they’re reading. They’re tuning out all sounds around them. One couple chatting at the end of an aisle had both carts completely blocking the entry — I tried several times with the ‘excuse me, may I get by you’ only for both

Or the ones who obliviously leave their cart partly blocking the aisle so you can’t get around, as they search for just the right can of soup. The worst offenders are two acquaintances that stop to chat, leaving both their carts blocking the aisle. And because they’re so deep into their convo, they don’t hear you

Yes! I’m no fan of mayo, but I’ll gladly use plain greek yogurt in its place for a tuna sandwich.

I use a wall-mounted magnetic knife holder that can easily be cleaned. Not because I have anything against knife blocks, but they hold more knives plus a wider variety of tools than a single block can hold (e.g. my bench scraper is stored there).

I think the real shame is many of these men (regardless of felony convictions) can’t get a job in fire fighting afterwards.

Unfortunately, Carpetbagger McClintock and Crony LaMalfa are still around, too.

I’m a huge fan of make-ahead components for Thanksgiving. I make a roasted vegetable gravy ahead of time and reheat it in a slow-cooker. Haven’t tried this with turkey gravy, though.

A good app for your phone is Smoke Sense - it provides the day’s Air Quality Index and forecasts the AQI for the next day, detailed with particulates and ozone. It also shows AQI monitors on a map with now/future values.

Kinja-d. won’t let me edit.

Every year, someone brings lovingly-crafted, homemade cranberry relish to Thanksgiving. Every year, the canned blob of jelly is the one that’s devoured first.

At our Thanksgiving, the turkey is the ‘side’ and the sides are the stars, and not just because half the family is vegetarian. I would definitely add this to balance the carb-heavy dishes.

Since your top photo is a spoon, I’m going to take your definition of spatula more broadly and nominate Le Crueset Revolution Saute Spoon. It is available in both right- and left-handed models (yay for lefties!) from Le Crueset directly, or from Amazon. The company also sells an actual spatula, but I like my lefty

I make my own Everything Mix (because out local TJs is not really that local) and put it on many items, — hummus, avocado, and (as you mentioned) it’s great on a baked potato. Pita chips spread with cream cheese and a little Everything Mix is my go-to snack.

I vote both. Genius for traveling - when visiting a remote office, I’ll stop by the local Kroger to pick up some snacks and this would be a good one. Insufferable - because someone (a millenial, I’ll guess) decided that avocado toast is a THING! Yes, a new THING! GTFO - I’ve been snacking on toast smeared with avocado

Any flight to Vegas, regardless of how early it leaves. I travel there often for conventions and invariably, there’s a party on-board already happening. To be fair, our airport bars won’t serve alcohol before 6 am. But once it hits 6 am, people are lined up for their shot.

My first though about this was  oh, yeah!  Love me some spicy tuna roll.  But that’s prepared with raw tuna. Not sure how it would play as a maki or roll.

Maple syrup (the real kind) must be refrigerated once opened. It is susceptible to mold. I’m taking the word of the Massachusettes Maple Producers Association on this.

The party of ‘I got mine, too bad for you.’ From today’s Politico article (emphasis mine):
