Last year’s Ghiblifest had one Japanese screening for each of the movies, too. It was usually at an inconvenient time, though- the dubbed versions were on the weekend, and the Japanese versions were on Monday nights, much like this year.

It seems to be a McCain family trait that today you say whatever will get you the most positive press coverage, even if tomorrow you’ll be saying the exact opposite.

When my wife was pregnant, an old lady at the grocery recommended she eat a lot of boiled okra. Apparently, the sliminess of the okra would “make the baby just slide right on out”.

Win or lose, the thing they most believe in is that their lives will be completely unaffected by it, and that’s the scary part.  They look forward to it because they think it will all happen somewhere far away from where they live.
