Even before I got to your last sentence, I was mentally forming a comment about how I agree EXCEPT FOR THAT STUPID FLY DRONE. That pushed the show a little too far into scifi - a genre I love, but it doesn’t work with the attempts at having a grounded show like this (might work better on Sherlock, to be honest).

Hey, I could find a way to make it work. Just watch 3 things at once, on 1.5x speed!

Honestly, as much as I enjoy Lock Stock and Snatch, fuck Guy Ritchie for making those hyper-stylized “Sherlock” action movies.

I agree with your comments 100%. I was pretty disappointed by this episode, since it pushed Elementary into standard CBS bootlicker fare. The show can and should be better than that.

Then why couldn’t Sherlock uncover his identity through that detail? When he talked to the woman at the park, I was confused at first, thinking she was the traitorous group member. It seems like they added a couple of pointless steps in this investigation to pad for time.

Yup, hate to say it but this episode finally tips Elementary into “bootlicker” territory. PoI has a much more subversive approach.

yup, the denser sweeter ones are the best.

It was easily one of the worst seasons of any television show I’ve ever seen, up there with the final season of Dexter.

I have no doubt that the man is deeply racist, but I think the point of his statement was a different kind of terrible:

It was like a whole comedy routine!

It really felt like the “rap dancing” reference was purely an insecure move on Laurence’s part to make Bill look old and out of touch (as opposed to “young” “hip” Laurence). It was pathetic and I laughed at him.

“This is ridiculous.”
“WHAT?”
“We are so lost.”
“WHAT?”
“Never mind.”
“WHAT?”

I loved the comedic timing when he asked the clerk about a black lawyer: tense, hushed silence from the entire room for a beat or two, and then the dude just responds totally casually (because he actually gets the subtext of the question).

Considering how often “prestige” dramas will stick a nude woman in the background of a scene as glorified set dressing, I’m pretty okay with the faceless nude (male) extras in this episode.

His stubborn/masochistic streak really came out in that car ride.

I loved the tentative “So...you out here by yourself?” right before everything goes to shit.

That’s...not what happened on LOST. I can’t believe people are still fundamentally misunderstanding the series finale all this time later.

It’s basically every episode. The point is that it’s become less compelling than the characters who actually know what they want.

Yeah there were some pretty overt human trafficking vibes to this episode - which is incidentally why I was 98% sure Drake would never show in the episode. Very (indirectly) negative portrayal of the man.

Right, the rap game for him is more about hustle than making a name for himself. Which is why it’s doubtful that Al would be hugely successful even with a better manager than Earn.
