Yeah, I was shocked by how casually they both perjured themselves. Even the scene where they discuss it is Joan just saying “well now I have to perjure myself for you.” No real fight about it, seemingly no internal conflict - I loved this episode but that was the one part that bothers me.

Yikes.

Yeah, to me it seemed like this episode followed up directly on the final scene from the previous episode. It’s been established that Holmes is stubborn, abrasive, and completely unwilling to change; and in this episode he leans into those traits in a way that screams “self-destructive spiral.”

Completely agree.

I had very low expectations because I typically find Favreau’s work to be blandly competent. But despite some unnecessary cheese and a few scenes of nonsense dialogue, I found this pilot to be rather thrilling and I’m excited to see what comes next.

Gonna be hard for Boba Fett to spread the word while he’s being slowly digested by a Sarlacc.

Bundsch wasn’t working for me until I realized they were going more for the “mundanity of evil” in this episode, rather than introducing a new ongoing evil genius character. The total lack of charisma on the part of the actor ended up working for me on that level, even if that’s not strictly what the actor was going

I came for the breathtaking animation, but Keegan-Michael Key’s delightfully gimmicky/meta narrator is what really sold me on watching the whole thing.

The one-two combo of Riddler’s Penguin cosplay/pro-wrestling parody and the “real” fight club in which Solomon Grundy beats dudes to death with their own severed arms while the crowd chants “stop hitting yourself” - I don’t know if I can handle this level of campy awesomeness.

I enjoyed this episode more than you seemed to, but I agree that the “revelation” of Pyg’s identity was incredibly, painfully obvious. How many uniformed cops keep that kind of (fake) facial hair anyway?

I SCREAMED (in delighted satisfaction) when Penguin said “the second is my signature” at the end when killing Headhunter. Just an absolutely perfect capper to that (intentionally) obnoxious running gag in the episode.

Well it’s impossible for me to see that LOST storyline referenced without adding the obligatory quote, so here goes:

I gave up on Blacklist once it became clear that the scripts were written by committee (or maybe even computer?), and just half-assedly recycled plots from better genre shows. One of the last (extremely laughable) story “arcs” I remember was an addiction storyline that lasted all of TWO EPISODES before the character

Yes, this is an unforgivable offense. Though not quite as egregious as when I saw someone compare Big Bang Theory to The Good Wife.

Movies too as far as that goes.

Thank you! I will always treasure the first 5 and 1/2 seasons as some of the best TV I’ve seen (and especially compelling considering I’m not usually into legal dramas), but that last season or so the Kings really did an effective job of making me hate their show and the characters they created. So I’m not exactly sad

Both Don’t Trust the B and the Ducktales reboot suffered heavily because episodes aired so severely out of production order.

Holy crap

Don’t forget Taye Diggs! (he wasn’t even around long enough to use a character name)
