Eh, I think Alicia could be persuaded to give her kids up. She forgets they even exist half the time.

If there was any use to that scene, it was some sly character work about Ruth’s facility for lying. I’m pretty sure the story she told Alicia was made up, and if you’re paying attention her obvious lie later on about being from Iowa seems to back that up that notion.

Every time Margulies has to do an “Alicia making a public appearance” scene, she plays it just a bit too insincere and awkward/stilted. Lots of bad writing this season (and episode), but at this point I’m ready to believe these scenes are missteps in Margulies’ otherwise excellent performance.

If the Kings wanted us to laugh at Alicia’s ridiculous temper tantrum, then they succeeded.

Hard agree. Haven’t quite finished yet, but I am repeatedly surprised by how good the show is (especially since I planned to just grind through the season as a short background show).

For a second I did think it was Janeane Garafalo cosplaying as Lilith.

Upvoted just for referencing a meta gag in Moonlighting. Love that show. (Agree with everything else, too.)

Soooo “Commentator01" showed up in the comments for this specific episode in order to defend a fictional character who likes to talk about his KSR fantasies. And also seems to confuse Stephen King’s imaginative writing for actual fantasies/fetishes.

I got a Hank Venture “Super run away!” vibe from Collier in his panicky reaction to Root showing up. He was in such a hurry to get the hell away from her that he barely squeezed off a few rounds in the process.

Exactly. It feels like season 4 of Community, or season 7 of Gilmore Girls - a hacky, attempted approximation of the original show.

This season has been systematic character assassination of pretty much everyone except Alicia. Diane bends over backwards to defend an anti-abortion case out of some shallow sense of pride. Grace suddenly has business skillz and takes on the personality of Marissa Gold. Eli is suddenly way more invasive about Alicia’s

That zoom in from the peephole at the end was so fucking corny. I had to cover my face in secondhand embarrassment. Julianna Margulies even looked confused about whether or not she was supposed to stare into the camera.

I would say that’s a problem with Cary, but at this point I just blame the writers. Lucca is a Kalinda replacement, so therefore Cary has to fall for her as well. It’s dumb.

I was hoping she’d follow him to his secret underground Decima lair built in an old abandoned subway station. Oh well...

So basically a remake of the Seinfeld episode where a suicide jumper lands on George’s car? I can get behind that.

“Here is the envelope with your payment, mid-level henchperson #59.”

Kinda like *new character* Lucy Lawless, who was on for an episode before getting unceremoniously killed off? That was about the point I gave up on the show (and the idea that it had any clue what it was trying to do).

Confusion, or annoyance?

Evan Rachel Wood!

I agree that Donal Logue doesn’t technically work as Bullock, but he’s also the most consistently entertaining character on Gotham (so I eventually stopped thinking of him as an adaptation of the comic character and just let myself enjoy his performance).
