Just a guess: she read the script for the episode and was unhappy about the Diane character assassination.

I could see them doing a half-baked parody of the Netflix Marvel shows like they did with that one fake gritty cable drama Alicia used to watch.

How could you forget Nathan Lane??

That certainly is what Cary implied with his tossed off comment to Diane at the end, but it really really felt like the writers came up with that “strategy” retroactively and threw the line in so as not to make Diane look quite as bad this episode.

Yeah, as I mentioned briefly elsewhere, the Kings are straight up assassinating Diane’s character all to make Alicia look like the “good” lawyer and get more clients.

Yeah I considered this episode straight up Diane character assassination. The Grace stuff was dumb and sitcommy, the Eli kiss was baffling, and the poorly-told jokes were bad.

Nope!

Also bringing back Dead Senator Guy just so Control can “foreshadow” his death with her little monologue about people outliving their usefulness. It could have been irritating, but it was actually kind of funny instead.

I would have found Hersh more believable than Shaw in that scene, but really it’s a minor gripe with a fantastic episode.

Yup, the way Dillinger was portrayed was clearly meant to emphasize that Reese’s humanity and not just his special skill set is what makes him a good fit in the POI team. It’s a bit of a subversion of what you’d expect (a long line of hapless but well-intentioned helper-types), and I think the point is driven home

Yes! I looked in vain for the review’s glowing references to the “stage acting” Matt Berry got to do with his character. Berry is always at his best when he gets to over-enunciate and over-dramatize his line readings. Highlight of the episode for me (though Bean’s arc in the episode, with the dual climaxes of stage

He has the suave of Cary Grant but none of the range or intensity. I always hate when people compare Clooney to Grant.

Well the Pit could give her the super-strength that comic-Harley has.

Or worse.

Now I’m flashing back (pun intended) to that scene in LOST where Kate and Juliet have that knock-down, drag-out catfight in the rain. Pretty sure when Juliet dislocates her shoulder, she explains that it’s happened before and re-injuring it is easy (and I always assumed that she didn’t want Kate to take credit for

I started watching The Midnight Meat Train last night and Vinnie is just perfectly cast in that. Also the blood/gore is surprisingly effective. And it hearkens back to a time when we could all unambiguously like Bradley Cooper.

That scene confused me too. I assumed that “dildo girl” would be killed by accident, and then the investigation into her murder would itself be another red herring by means of coincidence.

That was disappointing, yes, but I noticed some straight up production flubs in this episode as well.

Yeah, honestly that detail was borderline distracting in its degree of verisimilitude. Now if only we got a close up of someone’s jean leg crusted with dried salt too.
