Yeah, when you find someone that wants it to be federally illegal for Chappelle to do whatever horseshit he’s doing, you go ahead and dig this speech back up out of the trash. As it stands you know full well everyone just wants him to know he’s doing horseshit and wish he’d stop.

I sure hope this multi-millionaire can recover from the oppression of having young people saying his dated opinions and beliefs are bullshit.

To be fair to Sam as POC, I believe his bar was as diverse as all bars in Boston were in the 80's and 90's! And At least he didn’t have the Patriot party walking into his bar like they probably did to bars this weekend! Fucking Tiki torch racist little dick mother fuckers! :)

Where on earth did a sword come from? My wife laughed out loud at that (and this was her first time watching the show, so that was fun).

I always felt that was a lazy criticism by people who needed to find an excuse to denigrate it because it was a widely popular show that made no attempt to be anything more than be an entertaining show. If anything, it deserves a lot of credit for how seamlessly it integrated all of the 80’s stuff.

I think the most striking thing about Stranger Things now is that the comment section isn’t full of people arguing that it’s just lazy nostalgia fare anymore.

My only real disappointments were that Vecna didn’t lose an eye and a hand.

Nancy, when they invite you to play AD&D, you couldn’t have said yes once? This shit is going to be useful to you later!

(Seriously, though, for a kid who’s 90 pounds soaking wet, she was as brave and take charge as hell.)

Vecna didn’t make a replica of Hawkins, or at least I can’t see a good reason for that to be the primary theory of what happened. The reverse Hawkins is a flash photograph of how it existed when Eleven opened the gate, which is why Nancy’s diary entries end on that date. It would be more likely that Eleven

Yeah, I thought that was kind of an insensitive choice of listening material for someone who had just gone though that specific kind of trauma

Master of Puppets was a perfect track for that (and for Vecna, really.)

I also think this focus on takes of “if characters can’t die there are no stakes and this is a bad show” shows that Game of Thrones just whacked out some people’s meters on what entertainment “must” do. Stranger Things has never been a show where the core cast is ever in mortal danger—they didn’t even try to pretend

While it tied in a little less than I expected (I assumed the other parents were going to actually relate to events a bit more this season and then they very much didn’t) I really liked the satanic panic stuff, because it was shining a light on a crazy but true part of Americana at the time, and because it offered up

(Eddie starts playing Master of Puppets)

In the end, Jason was the reason why the final gate opened: Lucas was busy with him, which meant he wasn’t there to play Kate Bush to Max when she started levitating (not to mention Jason broke the walkman). That led to Max dying, which led to the gate opening. I think the build-up to him being what ruins their plan

When Steve plays Vecna’s ribs like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones

Eddie with the one-man rock concert in the Upside Down was a top 5 moment for the entire series for me. That. Shit. HIT!!!

“but even in the ’80s, would everyone just converge at that gun shop for a shopping spree at the same time?”

Hawkins residents believe there’s a serial killer in town, but even in the ’80s, would everyone just converge at that gun shop for a shopping spree at the same time?

Yeah. My only guess is that they decided to go with marketing the finale as “feature-length” or whatever. I know the Duffer brothers were playing up that angle in interviews, anyway, saying it was basically a movie. I watched the two episodes back-to-back anyway so it was a half a dozen of one, six of another

The runtimes didn’t bother me. There’s even a fade to black about halfway into “The Piggyback” that just as well could have been the end to a penultimate episode that set up the finale of the second half. So it was like three episodes instead of two. I certainly wasn’t complaining.
