Do you know what “unfortunately” means? Like I replied in my other post, (since this one is an accident due to buggy kinja) men have all the rights they need. “Men’s rights” is a ridiculous far-right “movement” that I do not support in any way.

Destroyer is a better adventure movie and a better D&D movie, but Barbarian is a better movie.

Aw, no mention of Basil Poledouris’s legendary score for the film? It practically makes the movie. Conan’s prayer to Crom intercut with Thulsa Doom and his riders closing in as the sweeping music plays always gets to me.

Been doing some sci-fi rewatches with my older son and I think Wrath of Khan may be the best sci-fi franchise movie ever made. I will always love Star Wars but Wrath of Khan elevates not only its own roots but the genre as a whole. Its also a master course in making sci-fi on reasonable budget. I like Star Trek: The

Does this mean we’re finally getting the Lyonne as Columbo series that we’ve been dreaming of?

I know we all love Dimebag and fair enough he seemed like he was a nice guy, but Pantera also holds the distinction of being the only band with an out and out white supremacist skinhead lead singer to get a billboard #1, which is less awesome.

Strength Beyond Strength is one of the greatest opening tracks on any metal album. Just a 3 second blast of guitar and then Phil spits his opening line and the whole band just kicks you in the face. So fucking good.

I think I managed to own one of their only shirts without the flag. Even as a teen in the deep south in the mid 90s, I felt icky about that shit.

Yeah, that’s my first thought just about every time the band comes up. Darrel was an inimitable, generational talent, but their whole catalog wears Anselmo like an albatross. His lyrics age poorly, reputation even more so.

I saw them twice, once very epically with Slayer back in the early 2000's if memory kind of serves. Great stuff.

Did that Pantera guy ever get his dad a cold beer?

Pantera was a fantastic band and I was fortunate enough to see them a few times.

Now playing

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will ever more perfectly capture the feeling of when THAT SONG that you've been dying to hear came on MTV when you were a teenager than this video.

Shame Phil Anselmo is a huge fucking racist, really.

Holy crap , a band in AVCs music section I actually know!

This seems to me like a good idea for a new feature. I wonder how many recurring features will survive the LA move.

Not the point. He’s framing this attack as a war on the LGBTQ community. Maybe rescinding that Reedy Creek situation was the right thing to do, but the fact that he chose to do it now means the decision was ENTIRELY partisan politics.

I’m also in the ‘Disney are Dicks’ camp. I’d usually have a hard time rooting for anyone in this story. But I really liked Moana. And I really dislike, maybe even hate, Ron DeSantis. So this one’s an easy call

Posturing is what the GOP does best!

If you think about it, this tells you all you need to know about Republicans. After all, Disney has been producing content with (background and hardly emphasized) depictions of homosexuality for a number of years now, but it’s only after they decided to stop funding Republicans that it’s become an issue.
