In the owner’s manual, along with the viscosity (that’s the 5W30, 0W20, or whatever), there will be some type of specification: VW 507.00, MB 229.5, GM Dexos 1 Gen 2, etc. Follow that spec, change it when the car tells you to, and you’ll be fine.
