Yup. I get Hereditary because there were no other horror movies to compete with it(although an October release would have been a better idea). But low budget action movies like Hotel Artemis and Upgrade in the middle of Blockbuster season, what were they thinking?

Yeah, the thing you can’t get from just reading a plot description of A Serbian Film is just how weirdly silly it is. And I mean that in a good way. It’s not a film to be taken as seriously as its reputation suggests.

A lot of capital N Nerds don’t actually like movies or think about them in terms of filmmaking as an art form/craft. They like signifiers. They want to see familiar symbols do familiar things and they want the characterization to make them feel strong in the same way that they felt when they were kids.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out at once, and were assholes.

Because it makes Poe look like an irredeemable cheesehead. I trusted Holdo from the beginning and took her side throughout the film, and I think Poe is an irredeemable cheesehead who should be court-martialed for getting most of the Resistance killed.
