My understanding is that they actually gained access to the code repository at SolarWinds and inserted their own code that was then compiled into the final product. Checking hashes on downloads would not have caught this.

Oddly enough, though, as a millennial in the middle of trying to make a career change, having no social media presence whatsoever is considered a very bad sign by potential employers.

As a millennial, I would like to point out that this is what our parents taught us when we started using the internet, and it’s absolutely what they don’t do.

As a not old person, I too remind people that social media is not required. Some of my peers become speechless when I tell them I don’t have social media. They genuinely don’t know how to talk to a human outside of a fully developed platform.
