Exactly. We don’t know the reasoning behind the numbers. If it’s imply that the best qualified people happen to be white males then that’s what it is. If they’re going out of their way to only hire white males then that’s a huge problem.

The problem starts much lower. The pool of the “best people for” high level jobs are disproportionately white and male. It’s not necessarily racist to wind up with a workforce that represents the (lack of) diversity within the talent pool.

I understand where this viewpoint comes from, but it points to a system that does not embrace diversity.
