That’s a knee-jerk reaction. This thing is 100k miles, close to 20 years old. You don’t put a supercharger on a Z4 and get it to last this long (ignoring emissions test) without some restraint and expensive care and feeding. It was certainly ridden hard, but never put away wet.
But it was not always thus for (most of) these people. The Peter Principle states that competent people will rise in an organization until they achieve their maximum level of incompetence. It’s American corporate culture to push people up instead of letting them settle where they’re most effective.
