I think most Floridians just call it dolphin on a regular basis, but most Floridians also pay attention to context clues. It's too crazy down here to survive long if you don't.

Mahi mahi (see it all the time as just mahi) is dolphin, while ahi refers to certain types of tuna (Hawaiian common names). Mahi/ahi is a pretty easy point of confusion.
