For me it’s not about *not working*, but about having enough saved money so you can work on something that you actually enjoy, regardless of what you earn, while maintaining the same lifestyle you are used to. Not working is just laziness, man. Unless you are like 70, that’s not a goal people should take pride in.
For me it’s having to not be concerned at all about budgets, self-imposed financial restrictions, or the negative consequences that would proceed without the former. Generally, I will be financially free when my steady passive income earns more money than my active income, and when I’m free of all liabilities…
For me it’s not regretting, when I’ve retired, not saving more and being able to do things I want (nothing lavish) and generally not worrying.

Mansfield occurs nowhere in the article... and is not explained properly. Mansfield is south of Arlington (itself in between Dallas and Fort Worth) and utilizing a phrase like “Dallas elementary school teacher Stacy Bailey” is largely inaccurate and misleading.
