I actually thought the scene was handled pretty well, considering it was on Reign. Her body wasn't highlighted, no clothes were ripped off, the focus was on her trauma as seen in her face. The scene with her MIL was also awesome - silly as this show is, their relationship has been quite interesting.

If you go into it expecting pretty dresses, lots of parties and love scenes, and many gorgeous people, you'll enjoy it. You kind of have to laugh at the ridiculousness of it occasionally because it's clear the creators threw historical accuracy right out the window. But the girls who are the heart of the show do a

Exactly. She had just started college - I could see how she mixed up frats, for instance, as she wasn't that familiar with campus then, and oh yeah, she was traumatized. I could also see changing details like being a lifeguard so the guys wouldn't retaliate against her. I have a cousin that age and I could see her

Not sure if you're familiar with this show, but one past plot involved Nostradomus - a real person - as being a brooding, sexy young man at French court, so this show has no qualms at all about making things up.

That's always the depressing thing with these stories - not that one guy behaved in this manner, but that an entire network of men conspired as well.

I am dying for this to happen. It could be such a:

Not surprised they're bringing Feeny to Girl Meets World. Eric Mathews and Sean Hunter are both coming too. Other than the 2 official girls, that show is turning into a sausage fest just like BMW.

Yes.

I worked at a place where a woman was not hired specifically because of her nude pics - management was afraid they'd get shared around the company (they were probably right) and she'd have grounds for a sexual harassment lawsuit.

Completely agree. I've experienced (and seen it happen to innumerable friends) what happens in the workplace when there's just a mere sex story about you, usually after dating a coworker or former coworkers. There are smirks, insinuations, long gazes at your body, snickers in meetings, wild rumors - you are downgraded

I was hoping the doctor would come along. He might be morally ambiguous, but at least he's got skills. That said, the final scene did a great job of showing how rough and terrifying Rick's crew looked to the safe, clean hospital crew. It was totally a "the devil you know" moment.

The most frustrating thing about Beth was her lack of emotional intelligence. The writers gave her nothing to work with. Yes, she was a church girl from a farm, but she wasn't 13. She was 17 when the show started, I think, so she had to be 18-19 by her death. Yet she had no idea how to deal with people at the hospital

She's a teeny little thing. My monster cats would have filled most of the bed.

Yeah, I always enjoy the ways people read into movies - whether it's tongue in cheek or deadly serious. I suppose it's the ultimate compliment to the creator, in some ways.

I remember back in the day, some radfem reviewers saw it as an allegory for LGBTQ families trampling the white nuclear family. (remember those all-girl dinosaurs playing with gender and procreating while the men lost control!) Ah, I miss the 90s.

A lot of my friends had those discussions, everyone agreed, and then 15 years later wound up someplace entirely different. Often the husbands were willing to agree to certain things in theory at age 25, but their priorities at 40 were radically different.

I always thought that about Brooke Shields. Stunningly beautiful, yet not sexy in the least.

I realize not all of these deaths are about elders, but I do believe that culturally we are going to turn a corner with our approach to aging and dying as Boomers continue to age. They aren't going to seal themselves up in apartments and watch TV all day for years, alone, as so many elderly people have in the past. I

Exactly. People who say "she only got famous for a sex tape" ignore the obvious fact that MANY people have sex tapes and don't go on to any kind of fame, let alone this level. I think Kris Jenner deserves most of the credit but I give kudos to the whole family for playing their parts and managing to hold the world's
