A lot of people think long generation spans are no longer applicable - that society has evolved so fast that Millennials can actually be broken up into 3 or 4 groups with very different attitudes and experiences in terms of economic outlook, social mores, etc. People who are 34 or 35 had a very different high school

Fair enough. I like seeing Archie and the gang in those comics - I think it’s an interesting and a great expansion of the universe. It wouldn’t be as interesting to me if they featured brand new characters, so to me they do work as Archie comics.

A lot of people would disagree with you on that. First of all, they’re so different from the upbeat Dan Parent-style shopping and school adventures that it’s almost impossible to compare. Secondly - both Chilling Adventures and Afterlife are incredible.

Yeah, Jekyll especially seemed intense when he visited Victor - leaning so close to him, etc.

The relationship between Victor and Jekyll seemed incredibly fraught with tension. Not sure if those actors just have amazing chemistry or what but I feel like their storyline has explosive potential.

If it helps, it’s not realistic gore. Game of Thrones was too violent for me, The Walking Dead can make me shudder, but Penny Dreadful is mostly pretty with some theatrical horror. There’s a fantastic ballroom scene where witches make Eva Green hallucinate blood soaking all of the paintings and guests and fancy

Do you think her positive recollection of him was foreshadowing this last episode? Interesting how they threw him into the conversation as the one man she remembered fondly.

I feel like the show doesn’t know what to do with Dorian. He was better as vain and decadent immortal - once he started openly murdering, he became more one-note. I wonder if Sybil Vane will show up as a woman of the streets (not a suicide) and her story will turn Lily and army against him.

Ah, the baggy crew neck t-shirt. My go-to whenever I want to look frumpy and 30 pounds heavier, and safe from snide or pervy comments. I have an entire collection.

Exactly. People were so knowing about it too, and some were a bit mean, saying she was aging badly if she was really 25. Enough already with the endless scrutiny of women’s looks.

Linda’s beauty is startling. That face of hers!

And are opposed to the concept of the paragraph.

I knew guys like that in AA. Often they had male admirers too, but they would focus on the prettiest girls in the program and become their sobriety gurus. Often the guys would fall in love with one young admirer who’d become their main lady until another sweet young thing replaced her 2-3 years later. And yes, there

Testament to the power of how women are socialized to accept male authority. I hope lots of women WERE asking questions and he just doesn’t like to mention that.

Great metaphor and so disturbing.

I have to ask - did she ever bounce back or is she still a true believer?

I’m surprised to hear him described as an “unlikely looking” guru, because he looks exactly like I’d picture a smug, middle-age self-defined guru who tries to control younger women.

Agreed. When I was young, I nannied in a houseful of people who were teenagers in the 70s. Their stories made today’s shenanigans look like a Disney cartoon. Multiple stories of gang rape of drunk women, which was considered a joke (as was men “switching” their drunk girlfriends), teenage babysitters getting “seduced”

I think Diane did know about the affair, and made a choice to put it behind her without confirming it. That’s why she was jealous of Holly when they first met and got hostile in a very non-Diane way; and then when she talked to Kurt, she said he had a weakness for young blond Republicans and sort of resigned herself

And if they could have pictures like the Illustrated Police News of the late 1800s - that would be ace.
