BTW...Slashgear has some great automotive pieces lately that do not contain political bias.

This is why I am investing in Aptera and more people should be talking about the SEV possibilities. Yes I realize that not everyone can take advantage of the full sun everyday, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Recently drove the R1T. I am hoping the R1S is smoother as it was a bit rough and the ground clearance is neat until you feel like you are driving from the position of a normal trucks roof.

Good thing California never has black outs or brown outs at all that would interfere with this plan...oh wait...

What speed was she traveling when she was speeding? How long had she been speeding for?

The first fully charged pull does not matter that much I agree. The issue is that the 5th pull is over 6 seconds on the Tesla and still under 3 on the Porsche. This means that as you go about your day of driving your ability to merge, overtake and calculate distances is different while still being in the same car. I

I really liked your minimum range calculator. While it does not get super cold in San Diego, I do have about 1300 Feet of elevation change at 70+ mph. I used your constants and given my 60 mile each way commute there is no electric car that meets my needs (464 mile capacity). That said I do have a Model S 85D which

Well you just had to go and bring up bell bottoms. Just remember that with bell bottoms you can leave your shoes/boots on whenever you need to take your pants on or off, so very much another increase in utility.

Agreed. I recently bought a “farm truck (96 2500 ext cab w/8ft bed)“ and the ease with which I can load items from Costco/Home Depot/Tractor supply in that 8 foot bed makes those places so much easier to deal with. A 6.5 foot bed is the absolute minimum I would ever think to own as a truck, otherwise I have as much

The keeping drunk drivers off the road was for me. I hate drunk drivers and being an Uber/Lyft driver allowed me to do something about it directly. I do not drive for the income, but having my expenses paid while keeping at least some drunk drivers from driving makes me feel better.

So when Uber and Lyft cannot meet the requirements to run drivers as employees and fail what happens?

How about a compromise?

One of my side hustles is how I get to/from work. I make about $400 a month from Waze by being the driver of a carpool. Silly not to make this money.

That is gross. It is usually about 100-150 miles of driving so 5-8 gallons at $3.50/gal (premium in CA). My rideshare rider is only $5 a month since I already carry a healthy amount of coverage. I drive UberXL and LyftXL, Lux, Lux Black, Lux Black XL only with 2016 Volvo XC90.

Gig economy is great for side jobs! I have a good paying job that gives me healthcare and all that jazz, but sometimes I want to earn some extra money/keep drunks off the road. The presence of the gig economy does that for me.

I would love to pull the shell off some otherwise rusted out 40s and 50s cars and drop them on this and have a great looking electric car with only fabrication work required. Yes I understand this would still be difficult, but it does get you 70ish% of the way to a fully running car.

Why 2 doors for one seat?

Dear SCO,

Sounds like a great idea, but not allowed by my electrical company Southern California Electric.
