The irony is that aerospace is safe BECAUSE of the massive amount of regulation that it is subject to.  Would you ever fly in an unregulated aircraft?

I am in aerospace manufacturing and this absolutely could be a possibility.

Increasing car theft is a factor too. Total numbers in the US have been rising pretty aggressively since 2021. An article in The Telegraph today shows that in the UK, year over year car insurance costs have gone up an average of 54%. V8 Range Rovers are said to be almost uninsurable now because of theft rates.

Industry self regulation has been an ANTI- government tirade since the Regan years. It seems to always fail. see railroads, chemical, and food industries.

The main factors are I see are the not paying attention because, fuckery; and the insane need to be competitive over everything leading to, more fuckery.

It all seems to stem from selfishness, overconfidence, lack of empathy, self delusion , impatience and fragile egos. The reason is humans are getting worse in many, but not all, ways. 

I too would like to live in a world where the trash collector pays me every day to pick up my garbage. But then again, if that were to happen, it would probably also mean living in some sort of Monkey’s Paw universe where I have to pay to go to work. I don’t think I want to be the one who establishes the precedent and
