I uh... like... the Mondial. Always have, ever since I was a kid.
(Note, my fascination is limited to the body-colored molding models, post 1985).

Found a neat thread,
true, any older car and especially a Ferrari benefits from a good service history and inspection prior to letting your hear take over the purchase!
The car’s wheels make me wonder how difficult it might be to get an original set for the car. And I wonder why it seems to be missing six bolts for those wheels.
Absolutely.
YES. This one knows.
The interior is not in need of replacing.
Voting NP....
At some point maybe the Mondial will gain enough value that even these early cars are coveted. But really nice QVs are still available in the $25-35K range and the 8 can’t rise above it.
Come on, this is the most Saab 900 of all Ferraris. That means, the most Jalop of all. Wicked proportions and all, I’d love to drive the heck out of it if I had 21k and some more for spares and service. NP!
Conditional Nice Price based on whether the seller can provide the name of the shop where he got the timing belt service done and they can send me a copy of an invoice with a car with the same VIN that proves that the belts were replaced... as well as a mechanical inspection from a specialist.
Maybe if it was a cabrio (showing my age, this is the only thing that comes to mind when I see a red Mondial)
I never said it would be a rewarding experience because it is from the same company as a LaFerrari. Ferrari builds a certain je ne sais quoi into all their cars. Some more than others for sure.
You could say the same of a Lancia Stratos, which performs about as well as a 246GT. And nobody’s slagging too much on the Stratos.
As if anyone is going to cross shop a Ferrari with a Neon. So what if a Neon or a Nissan is faster? I guarantee that neither will have the soul of a Ferrari. Driving any mid engine Italian car will be an experience that cannot be duplicated by a Nissan or a Neon.
I’d fly and drive that today if I could figure out how. NP.
Not to mention, that in Mondial T trim, the car really doesn’t look all that bad...
Its looks have really grown on me a lot, especially after I watched Scent of a Woman at aged 6.
Amazing how much of a parts bin raider this era Ferrrari were. I see my 79 X-1/9 AC Pushbutton controls, and center stack vents, I see older Alfa Romeo seatback adjusters and GTV6 fan controls.
But a 246GT could be spanked by either of those (and a lot more besides). Try buying one of them...
Here’s the thing: Is this the cheapest most undesirable Ferrari around, with a lack of service records and in dubious condition? Sure. If instead of looking for “I drive a Furrrrarrri” cred you just want to have a somewhat neat looking hand built Italian car from the ‘80s, I don’t think this is all that much money.…
