yeahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Which is why I said in the original post that when I read “best sports car” I typically think “best performing.” That said, I don’t mention the ZR-1 just because it was a top performer; it’s a much more special car than the Z06 that did make it onto the list. No other Corvette has or likely will have a DOHC V8, let

Looks even more like an Elan S2, in the front at least.

The only sort of sports car I can think of that I think looks GOOD with safety bumpers would be the Fiat X1/9.

What is wrong with a Ferrari 400? I love 4 seater FCars, the 456M GT will forever be my guilty pleaesure.

The Mondial is a fun, smells-like-a-Ferrari Ferrari and little kids LOVE dropping the top and going for a ride in the more than ample rear seats. You just have to buy and own it for what it is.

I drove one recently and it was puddles of fun. The T models are harder to maintain, the QV model in the article is the pick. Let the haters laugh and point, secretly they'll still wanta drive.

Nice! It’s good to know that it’s not a bad car just one I happen to find very unattractive. Should have thought about the gated shifter that gives it a whole bunch of awesome points. It is still a Ferrari and you are right the T coupe is not too bad.

I’ve driven one. Is it a great car? No. Is it a fun car? Actually, yes. It makes nice sounds, and a gated shifter is always cool. I’d take one in the unicorn T coupe form. That said, of the oddball Ferraris I would rather have a 400.

True, owner here (not a Mondial). Part of their appeal lies beyond them being objectively superior cars. The mystique behind the brand excuses a lot of the cars’ shortcomings. There is inherent pretentious douchery in buying one-trick cars, no denying it. They are still very capable, technically competent and usually

I’d rather have a Mondial than no Ferrari

Not in Ferrari-land. Check out the prices for other 80s-90s Ferraris. They are exploding. The Mondial is probably the only model left in the $30k range, and we are talking about clean cars that don’t make shoppers run.

I will comment on the Ferrari first since I can somewhat relate. The Mondial’s appeal is very limited, but it has all the essential ingredients and is probably the last Ferrari that you can still buy at under $40k (clean example) in the US.

“At least it’s not a 400.”

I know literally nothing about this car, I’ve never really taken much of an interest in Ferrari past whatever‘s in whichever Need for Speed game I’m playing at the moment, but it sort of has a series 2 Lotus Elan-like charm about it. I’d probably go with different rims, though.

It is the same chassis as a 308GTS/GTB with full drop top and space for kids under the age of 11. I guess the haters are going to hate, but it is a great modern classic.

The first Ferrari I saw in real life and the only Ferrari I’ve ever ridden in. A distant cousin had it in his car collection and gave 5-year-old me a ride at the country club where my dad worked. Had to love the noise it made as all the golfers tried to concentrate on their back swing.

I like Mondial T’s. I don’t like this Mondial.

That’s exactly the attitude people had towards the 912. Bad car or not, the Mondial will go up in value.

Mondial and S2000 the best?

Have to agree with you, I personally never understood the amount of hate this car gets.
