fully respect that some people think it’s ugly, but it was not as slow as articles try to make it out to be. The wikipedia page has full comparative stats with sources. Also it was the best handling Ferrari, a lot of people forget that fact.

I love the all 3 cars - I wished I had bought the 308 GT4 when I had a chance. Just 5 years ago, you couldn’t give a GT4 away - now a well sorted one is 80K easily...

Kind of like if you had an ad saying the 2016 Camero is faster then a Ferrari*

Mondial 8 has same exact engine drivetrain as 308 GTSi, but you don’t hear anything bad about the 308s..

Mondial has same exact drivetrain as 308/328/348 - are those turd engines as well?

I totally respect that...one thing that really hurt the early models were the federally mandated black bumpers which many feel made the car look awkward. Also some feel the black trim and rims didn’t age well. Here is a Mondial with just for relatively simple updates:

sorry the 348 train has left the station! prices have been going way up...this is the only ticket left in town if you are looking for a ‘bargain’ You will not find a reasonable 348 for 21K...

I’ve had an NSX - didn’t have the soul of the Mondial - plus can’t bring kids along for the ride. I also had an Accord - yeah it’s faster - but...it’s an Accord....as for maintenance - depends all on the PPI.

Actually I’ve been treated very nicely...maybe it’s just an anomaly...

Love the 400s - though would rather have had a manual.

I respect and will never debate aesthetics, so I respect your view on its lack of beauty. But the often repeated myths that the 8 was a poor performer (relative to other cars of the epoch) needs to die.

really depends on a case by case basis - you have to do a proper PPI - some 8’s will be a nightmare - some will be a delight - only a proper inspection (and hopefully records) can ensure that!

All Ferrari from 1982 will be considered slow realtive to today’s cars. The 8 was only considered a wink or two slower then the venerable 308...that’s not be me saying that - it’s MotorTrend .. they drove cross country in the thing:
