Except it’s illegal for your city’s businesses to hire undocumented workers so they would have to participate in fraud in assisting these people to buy SSNs and documentation suitable for legitimate employment.  Plus they still need food, shelter, etc.  while waiting for paychecks.

We can’t enforce a majority of laws that are on the books in advance. We require people to have auto insurance to drive a car,and no one argues we should drop the requirement because we can’t enforce it unless we inspect every person’s insurance card before they get behind the wheel of a car, every time.
